# Update a client

PATCH https://api.modulards.com/api/public/v1/clients/{client_id}
Content-Type: application/json

Changes the fields you send on a client and leaves the others as they are. Your role must be allowed to update the client: a collaborator can update only the clients they created; an owner or an administrator can update any client. A contact id answers 404.

**Body**
- `name` (string, optional): at most 255 characters, not blank when sent.
- `last_name` (string or `null`, optional): at most 255 characters.
- `company` (string or `null`, optional): at most 255 characters.

## Authentication

- `Authorization` header (bearer token, required) — Personal access token created in the Modular DS dashboard; read-only tokens can only call GET endpoints.
